This discrete and versatile artist’s studio and work space was built into the hillside in the artists garden. The studio is raised to gain the best of light, and a wrap around veranda connects to the outside space, and provides a space for coffee and soaking up the view.
The studio is off grid; well insulated, with solar panels, a wood burning stove and lots of natural light. The opaque roofing provides the space with a flat even light as is traditionally found in artists studios with north facing windows and ideal for a variety of creative work.

The clients wanted this space to feel like a blank canvas, so we paired the glazed front and large picture windows with slate floor and ply panelled walls, creating a clean backdrop for their own creative practice. Externally the timber clad construction sits on a steel frame, and blends effortlessly into the rural setting.
